Join us at The Salon at Clifton's for the Pursuit of Liberté

The Salon at Clifton’s is proud to present its inaugural multi-media show In Pursuit of Liberté.

In Pursuit of Liberté features the works of 15 artists who, using Bastille Day as a launching pad, explore the theme of liberty at a time when there are international protests demanding the same inalienable right.

From Abbey Ozanich’s fleeting photographic scenes of New York City’s outer boroughs to Jose Luis Lopez’s ephemeral site-specific installation- In Pursuit of Liberté explores many of the artists’ pursuit of liberty through transportation and imagination.

As the title suggests, the show travels from France, with Devina Brown’s photographic souvenirs from Paris and Brandon Andrew’s burning homage to two influential French artists- all the way to Clifton’s Cafeteria where Van Tran and Zac Monday will each be performing. Emily Weiner will send a postcard drawing from her residency outside of Paris as a postscript to her painting of the trip she never took. Tiffany Rapp’s video installation offers a glimpse of current revolutions from the Internet Generation’s perspective.

Also on display are Jon Walton’s photographic tiles and Eric Baskauskas’ Writing Around - both fitting for travel; Ell Larson’s and A’misa Chiu’s newest paintings, Thomas McDermotts’ pointillist ink drawing of a cloned bull, Glenna Jennings’ Rachel’s 40th and a photograph from Kate Johnson’s Less Than or Equal To series - an image full of infinite possibilities.

The series of pop-up shows at The Salon is a riff on the “Salon des Refusés” – a monthly group exhibit that falls outside of the typical white-wall gallery space and is accessible for both art fans and non-typical gallery goers to enjoy.
