Decomposition Processes

Second Chance (Drawing)

Second Chance Drawing, Second Chance Simulacrum #4 (copy of a copy #4), Second Chance Simulacrum #13 (copy of copy #13)

Portrait Deconstruction #3

Portrait Deconstruction 0, 1, 2 and 3.

Okay, so I promised not to put old art work up here, but technically this work was done before the blog was made. I never really had a chance to show this or talk about it really though - and I have been making more than one art work a week - and I am currently finishing up a grad school app. ... so this will just have to do for now because I didn't have time for a new new piece tonight. I know you're all going to lynch me for this aren't you ;)

Anyway these pieces are both processes of image deconstruction.

Second Chance starts out with my pointillism drawing of a bull who was cloned. The original bull's name was Chance. When he died and they cloned him, they named him Second Chance... seriously! (Read about Chance's story here)

The Portrait Deconstruction was done by taking a portrait of me, printing, slicing, making a grid of it.... then printing that grid, slicing that grid, making a grid of that sliced grid, printing that.. and so on.

  2. Thanks Alex!

Pam, I made 14 copies of the drawing. The 14th copy had barely any ink showing up so I stopped.
